Mr. Soufyane Razouk, a dedicated educator from Morocco with six years of experience teaching English from 2017 to 2022, began his career with elementary students and later transitioned to middle school. Physical Education has always been his passion and childhood dream. He gained valuable experience as a PE teacher and coach at “Club Élite Meknès” and “Almontalak School,” where he worked for about three years. In 2023, he joined the ASI community, which has been a fantastic experience due to the excellent staff, system, and atmosphere. Mr. Razouk is excited to continue growing and contributing to the field of education at ASI. He holds a DEUG (2015) and a bachelor’s degree (2017) from Molay Ismail University in Meknès, as well as a Moniteur Sportive certification from Clube Élite Meknès (2020 to 2022).

With a rich family heritage of educators and a dedicated pedagogue father, teaching is Ms. Zineb El Adnani’s true passion. A seasoned science educator from Morocco with seven years of experience and a PhD in Applied Chemistry-Physics from Dhar Mahraz School of Science, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Fez, she embraces the challenge of imparting scientific knowledge. Ms. El Adnani holds a Master’s Degree in Computer and Structural Chemistry and a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry Sciences from the same institution. Certified by CAVILAM-Alliance française de Vichy, she finds profound fulfillment in witnessing students’ growth and fostering curiosity. Outside the classroom, she enjoys crafting, particularly needlework, blending creativity with attention to detail, much like in her teaching.

Ms. Anne Shillingsburg, an experienced educator from the USA with 23 years of teaching experience, began her career teaching English in China and joined the AUI Language Center in 2008. A dedicated member of the ASI family since 2013, she is also the mother of three current ASI students and one alumnus. Ms. Shillingsburg holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and English from Wake Forest University, a Master’s degree in English from Indiana University South Bend, and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from Sunderland University. Her hobbies include reading, writing, and running.

Mr. Aubrey Mogwatlh, a professionally trained actor and director from South Africa, ventured into teaching to nurture young students through performing arts. His journey began in South Africa, grounded in the spirit of “Ubuntu,” meaning “I am because we are.” A nationally certified performing arts teacher, Mr. Mogwatlh appreciates the professionalism of his colleagues and the support he received as a novice educator at ASI, which made him fall in love with his job and adapt quickly. His hobbies include learning new things, reading, football, networking, acting, and traveling. Proud to be an ASI Eagle, Mr. Mogwatlh continues to inspire students with his passion for the arts.

Mr. Mouad En-Nejjari graduated with top honors from Al Akhawayn University in 2023 with a Master’s degree in North African and Middle Eastern Studies. A passionate researcher, he focuses on the history, politics, and affairs of the Islamic world. He has diverse experience as a higher education teacher, assistant, research assistant, and program developer. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in English studies and a TESOL certification from Arizona State University. Outside academia, Mr. En-Nejjari was a professional football player and now enjoys volleyball, running, hiking, and bodybuilding. His life philosophy is: “The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.”

Ms. Soumia Ennaciri, from Morocco, holds a PhD in Arabic and Cognitive Linguistics. With over 12 years of experience, she taught Arabic to native and non-native speakers, beginning at Al Akhawayn University and continuing at Amédiste in Rabat and Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University. She is an elementary Arabic teacher at Al Akhawayn School. Ms. Ennaciri focuses on making Arabic learning enjoyable and relevant to her students. Beyond teaching, she actively participates in conferences and stays updated on educational advancements. Her motto is, “No learning without love and fun.”

My name is Paul Holding, I’m an English teacher from Manchester, UK. I am the Middle School English teacher at ASI. My career has taken me to Asia, North America and Africa, teaching middle school students from a great variety of backgrounds. I specialise in inspiring a love of writing and reading in students through creative and thought-provoking work, using students’ interests as a vehicle to deepen understanding. I believe that writing is an essential form of expression for everybody. I write extensively outside of work, frequently incorporating my own work into lessons to engage students and illustrate concepts. Additionally, I play the guitar/bass, and enjoy cooking a great variety of the meals I’ve discovered whilst travelling the globe. I look forward to exploring the history, music and food of Morocco, and hope to be speaking Darija soon!

Mr. Amine Nakari holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane. He worked as a tutor at the Center for Learning Excellence, where he supported students in mathematics and computer science, an experience that strengthened both his teaching skills and his passion for education.
 
At ASI, Mr. Nakari teaches Middle School Mathematics and is committed to helping students build confidence in problem-solving while developing a deeper understanding of mathematics. His professional interests also include educational technology and exploring ways to integrate technology into learning in meaningful and engaging ways.

Outside of school, he enjoys cooking, weight lifting, making music, and working on projects that combine technology with creativity. He is excited to be part of the ASI community and to contribute to its culture of learning and growth.

Mr. Achraf El Hayyouni, from Morocco, holds a major in English Studies from Fez and brings a passion for language and education to his role. He previously served as a teaching assistant at a private school. Mr. El Hayyouni enjoys sports, reading, and traveling outside of work. He particularly values the school’s supportive environment, the camaraderie among colleagues, and the overall work atmosphere.

Ms. Lina Cabrera was born in La Paz, Bolivia and moved to New York City when she was a year old. Growing up on the Upper West Side in Manhattan, she developed a love for art, museums, and books by diverse writers. She graduated from City College of New York with a degree in Black Studies, and later returned to her alma mater for a second degree in Childhood Education. Ms. Cabrera enjoys traveling, trying food from different places, and discovering cool street art. She is passionate about beautifying spaces by painting murals and incorporating diversity in art. She strongly believes that students need to see themselves represented in books and art, as representation is key to building people up. Ms. Cabrera is excited to bring her passion for art and diversity to the ASI community.

Ms. Sarah Love, from Tunisia, finds immense fulfillment in the classroom, especially when her students experience the thrill of discovering something new. Beyond teaching, she cherishes her roles as a wife and mother to two wonderful daughters, as well as a proud owner of a very clever cat named Hanibal, named after the Phoenician leader Hannibal Barca, whom she adopted eight years ago. With a wide array of hobbies, she often finds that 24 hours in a day aren’t enough. During a past lockdown, she dedicated time to honing two of her passions: embroidery and cooking/baking. One of her greatest culinary delights is the French pastry known as the macaron. Ms. Love holds a Bachelor’s degree from L’Institut de Langues de Tunis and a Master’s 1 from L’Université des Antilles. She is excited to bring her diverse interests and passion for education to the ASI community.

Ms. Hanae Trennou, from Morocco, holds a Master’s degree in Educational Science and is currently preparing for her PhD in Educational Engineering. She has extensive teaching experience in various schools and universities. Ms. Trennou is highly interested in active pedagogies, as they foster innovation, collaboration, genuine commitment, and independent learning. At ASI, she appreciates the intercultural aspect and the sharing of knowledge. She is also passionate about music, particularly the piano. Ms. Trennou is excited to bring her expertise and enthusiasm for education to the ASI community.

My name is Rachida Dkhissi, and I have been dedicated to working at ASI for the past 19 years. Throughout my career, I began as a Pre-K assistant and have grown into my current role as a high school assistant. I am a multi-talented individual with a diverse background, having attended numerous workshops and completed several online courses to continuously expand my skills. In addition to my work in education, I studied to become a makeup artist, reflecting my passion for creativity and beauty. Outside of work, I enjoy a variety of hobbies including sports, reading, traveling, cooking, and decorating. I am always eager to learn and grow, embracing new opportunities along the way.

Ms. Carolane Tessier, a mother of five children, is passionate about teaching young students and nurturing their development. She shares her love for reading and learning with her students, aiming to inspire a passion for learning within them. Ms. Tessier appreciates the vibrant community at ASI and finds joy in fostering a love of learning among her young students. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Québec in Montréal. Next academic school year, she will also guide Chloe, who is excited to move to kindergarten. Ms. Tessier is excited to bring her enthusiasm and dedication to the ASI community.

Ms. Yasmine Boulahlib is a multifaceted educator from Morocco with a rich background spanning various school systems and teaching levels. She also engages as a translator, showcasing her skill in effective communication. Recently, she has been immersed in ESL and Arabic teaching at ASI, gaining invaluable insights for her future endeavors. Ms. Boulahlib is eager to leverage her newfound knowledge and skills in the years ahead. Outside of her professional pursuits, she finds joy in hobbies such as dancing, drawing, and engaging in sports activities. Ms. Boulahlib is enthusiastic about continuing her journey at ASI and contributing to the diverse and dynamic learning environment.

Ms. Fatima Zahrae El Makkaoui, a Moroccan native, pursued her university studies in chemical sciences. However, her profound love for music inspired her to become a music teacher. She enjoys sharing her passion for music with students and witnessing their growth and personal development through musical education. Enthusiastic about joining ASI this year, Ms. El Makkaoui looks forward to creating a fulfilling and creative musical learning experience for the students.

Ms. Loubna Mazouz teaches French and hails from France, with a primary focus on teaching primary classes. As a passionate educator, she is deeply interested in education, pedagogy, self-knowledge, and psychology. Understanding human motivations is crucial for her in creating a harmonious and inspiring working environment. At work, Ms. Mazouz finds joy in imparting values and sharing her knowledge to help her students grow personally and academically. Her commitment to these principles reflects her aspiration for a fulfilling and balanced life.

Mr. Mohamed Aakouk’s tech journey began with a Mechanical Engineering degree from “MTS Hendrick de Keyser” in Amsterdam. After transitioning from engineering to IT, Mr. Aakouk founded “Togo Informatique” in Lomé, Togo. His pursuit of Microsoft certifications and teaching experience at “De Academie” in Amsterdam strengthened his skills before he established “Aakouk Automatisering.” In 2009, Mr. Aakouk and his family relocated to Morocco and since 2014 he teaches IT at Al Akhawayn School of Ifrane, focusing on equipping students with essential digital skills for the modern world.

Khadija Benayad is a Moroccan graduate of Al Akhawayn University’s Master of Arts in International Studies and Diplomacy (MAISD) program. Following her graduation, she joined an international organization to serve in the Al Haouz region after the recent earthquake. Living in tents alongside the affected community, Khadija and her fellow volunteers stepped in to teach when schools remained closed, transforming any available space—tents, mosques, and even open-air settings—into makeshift classrooms for disadvantaged children.

Passionate about education, Khadija believes that history should not be reduced to memorizing dates and facts. Instead, she sees it as an engaging tapestry of stories that have shaped our world, making the past both meaningful and enjoyable for young learners.

Ms. Sarah Bouriaba is the middle school science teacher at ASI, bringing four years of teaching experience to her role. She graduated with honors from Al Akhawayn University, earning a bachelor’s degree in engineering and management science with a minor in Data Analysis. Apart from her dedication to teaching, Ms. Bouriaba finds joy in baking and takes pride in organizing the annual middle school graduation ceremony at ASI. She finds great fulfillment in witnessing her students’ achievements during graduation. Ms. Bouriaba is excited to continue inspiring her students and contributing to their academic and personal growth.

Ms. Douae Lyagoubi views ASI not just as a school but as a place where passion meets purpose. With seven years of teaching experience in international schools and a master’s degree in French business law from University Moulay Ismail, Meknes, she has refined her skills through training in active pedagogies and foreign language didactics. Teaching French at ASI brings her immense joy as she helps foster critical thinking and shapes future leaders, all while embracing the diversity of the school community. Ms. Lyagoubi holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, Fes. Before joining ASI, she taught at Maple Bear Fes for five years. Outside the classroom, she enjoys wandering in nature, immersing herself in good books, or humming a tune.

Ms. Meryem Rhim, a certified teacher from Morocco, brings over 17 years of teaching experience from the USA and Morocco. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from St. Leo University, USA, and a teaching certification from Moreland University. Throughout her career, Ms. Rhim has taught at AYA School in Florida, served as a teacher and coordinator at Ecole Lavoisier and Groupe Scolaire Yassamine in Fez, and held the roles of teacher and principal at Smart School Kawtar – Maple Bear Canadian School in Fez. Currently, she is a dedicated teacher at Al Akhawayn School. Ms. Rhim enjoys swimming, traveling, dancing, and reading in her spare time. She finds great satisfaction in working at ASI due to its dynamic, multicultural environment, which enables her to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and motivate them to excel. Ms. Rhim also values the opportunity to witness and contribute to her students’ personal and academic growth.

Mr. Omar Boutaleb obtained his High School Physical Education Teacher Diploma from École Normale Supérieure ENS EPS in 1997 and completed a teaching master’s equivalent in 2006. He is a former Moroccan Alpine Skiing Champion and certified Ski Instructor, having furthered his credentials at ENSA in Chamonix, France, and trained with the Moroccan Ski Team in Sierra Nevada, Spain. In 2010, he organized the World Ski Cross Championship in Sierra Nevada. In addition to his skiing expertise, he also holds a National Archery Coach certificate. Mr. Boutaleb is passionate about physical education and enjoys reading, skiing, hiking, and climbing. Currently, he serves as a Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Director at ASI. With 31 years of teaching experience, he is eager to share his extensive expertise and dedication with the ASI community.

Mr. Bernard Nyantakyi, from Ghana, has 15 years of experience in international education, covering British, American, and Singapore Math curricula. He has worked in various roles and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Information Studies and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Ghana. In addition, he is certified in Cambridge Math and Science Education from the British Council of Education. Apart from education, Mr. Nyantakyi is passionate about performing and culinary arts. He values the support of dedicated supervisors and appreciates the enthusiasm of students. Mr. Nyantakyi is eager to contribute his extensive experience and passion for education to the ASI community.

Mr. Ameur Arechkik holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy from Ibn Tofail University of Kenitra, collaborating with Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane. Since 2017, Mr. Arechkik has worked as a research assistant and began lecturing in 2019 at Al Akhawayn University. He subsequently joined ASI in January 2023, where he now teaches mathematics and physics. His special interests include hunting and swimming. Mr. Arechkik finds great satisfaction in working at ASI due to its vibrant academic environment and the opportunity it provides to inspire and educate the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Ms. Ernita Lacoste holds a B.S. from New Surabaya College and has 13 years of experience in education. She has worked as a preschool teacher, kindergarten teacher, and librarian. At ASI years, Ms. Lacoste has served as a librarian, events coordinator, and test coordinator, promoting academic excellence and a love for literature. She is committed to cultivating an enriching educational environment that supports student growth and success. Ms. Lacoste enjoys traveling, photography, and rock climbing, and she values the diversity at ASI. Her professional experience spans multiple countries, including Indonesia, Mongolia, China, Spain, and the USA.

Siham Mchich, I’m originally from Morocco and have over 14 years of experience in early childhood and elementary education. My background includes teaching physical education to Pre-K and Kindergarten, working as a teacher assistant, and leading activities during summer camps. Over the years, I have developed strong expertise in supporting children’s learning through play, movement, and hands-on experiences.At ASI, I focus on creating engaging and developmentally appropriate learning opportunities for Pre-K students. I collaborate closely with teachers to enhance classroom activities and build strong relationships with both children and colleagues.

Beyond my classroom role, I also contribute by translating during parent-teacher conferences and supporting communication between families and the school. I am interested in continuing professional growth through curriculum development and training programs.

 Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, exploring new learning opportunities, and staying active.

Mr. Hicham Habbab is committed to providing a fulfilling educational experience for students by emphasizing improving their Arabic language skills and cultural awareness. He utilizes various educational methods to actively engage students, regularly assess their progress, and provide constructive feedback. He aims to deliver comprehensive and inspiring Arabic language lessons that contribute to continual linguistic and cultural proficiency development. Mr. Habbab is dedicated to meeting and surpassing expectations as an educator, ensuring that each student achieves their full potential.

Ms. Loubna Agoudir is an experienced Arabic teacher with 23 years of teaching experience in Moroccan, French, and American educational systems. While working at Al Akhawayn School, she developed expertise in advanced teaching methodologies using modern educational tools and progressive pedagogical methods. Drawing from her extensive experience in education, Ms. Agoudir is highly skilled at adapting to students’ diverse learning needs, whether they are Arabic speakers or non-Arabic speakers. In her free time, she enjoys writing and spending time with her three daughters. Ms. Agoudir is dedicated to creating a dynamic and inclusive learning environment for all her students at ASI.

Ms. Rihab Khairoun, originally from Rabat, has long nurtured a passion for creative expression. She began developing her artistic skills during middle school at the Centre Culturel Russe in Rabat, where she also participated in a group exhibition, and later enhanced her abilities during a semester of art classes in Italy, exploring diverse techniques and approaches. Alongside her artistic background, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Mathematics. Ms. Khairoun serves as the art teacher at ASI, focusing on inspiring students to explore a variety of artistic mediums and discover the cultural and personal significance of art. She is committed to creating a supportive classroom environment where students feel free to express their imagination.
Outside of work, she enjoys painting, traveling, and discovering new cultures. Ms. Khairoun is excited to be part of the ASI community and looks forward to sharing her passion for creativity with her students.

Mr. Kenneth Hildebrand holds a B.A. and M.A. in History with concentrations in Philosophy and International Affairs. He has taught AP and IB History, Philosophy, Economics, Human Geography, Sociology, and English. After eight years of teaching in his home state of California, Mr. Hildebrand embarked on an international career, teaching in Lebanon, Qatar, China, Kuwait, Angola, Cambodia, Colombia, and Venezuela. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History and Religious Studies, with a minor in Philosophy, from The University of the Pacific, where he was recognized as the Most Outstanding Senior in his field. He also holds a master’s degree in history with a concentration in International Relations from California State University, Stanislaus. His passions and hobbies include training, reading, being in nature, and working with animals. Mr. Mohammed Es-safi’s professional journey includes roles as a Research and Development Consultant and a lab instructor in computer programming, where he gained valuable experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds and ages. Mr. Es-safi’s passion for education and knowledge dissemination is evident, particularly in music, mathematics, and computer science. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Business Administration from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane. His experience includes serving as an Adjunct Laboratory Assistant of Computer Science and as an Academic Tutor at the Center for Learning Excellence at Al Akhawayn University. Outside of work, he enjoys playing video games and taking long walks. Excited to be part of ASI as a math teacher, he looks forward to contributing to the school’s commitment to cultural diversity and nurturing future leaders.

Ms. Nouhaila El Moutawakil El Alami’s professional journey spans classroom teaching, academic tutoring, and student mentoring with learners from diverse backgrounds and ages. Her passion for education and knowledge sharing is clear, especially in mathematics, data literacy, and technology-enhanced learning. Educated at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, she focuses on helping students connect algebra and pre-calculus to real-world problems through modeling and clear communication. Multilingual in Arabic, English, and French, Ms. El Alami fosters inclusive and collaborative classrooms where mistakes become learning opportunities. She is excited to join ASI as a math teacher and to contribute to the school’s commitment to cultural diversity, character, and the development of future leaders.

Mr. Walter Spain has dedicated his life to teaching others. With 14 years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps and achieving the rank of Captain, he gained extensive leadership and training experience. Transitioning from the Marine Corps to teaching via the Troops to Teachers program, he further honed his skills and passion for educating young minds. In his free time, Mr. Spain enjoys gym workouts and attending cultural activities, with a particular academic interest in Moroccan Gnawa cultural traditions. As the new Middle School English teacher, he eagerly anticipates contributing to ASI’s rich heritage and fostering the development of ASI students to their fullest potential.

Mr. Mustapha El Makrani, from Morocco, is thrilled to join ASI as the new elementary science teacher, returning to his hometown of Ifrane to pursue his dream job. With over eight years of experience, he has always maintained a passion for teaching. Besides science, he has also taught English as a second language. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Moulay Ismail University, Meknes, and is finishing his TESOL Certification at the American TESOL Academy in Casablanca. Outside academics, Mr. El Makrani enjoys swimming, tennis, football, running, nature walks, and music. He is excited to bring his enthusiasm and dedication to the ASI community.

Mr. Hakim Adardour has a diverse academic background, including a bachelor’s degree, a certificate in psychological and family counseling, mediation skills, educational qualifications, and a master’s degree in Moroccan culture. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Language and Society. He has actively participated in numerous international and national literary seminars, making significant scholarly contributions. Professionally, Mr. Adardour has taught Arabic in multiple schools, facilitated exam preparation, and played a crucial role in national programs aimed at enhancing Arabic language education. His extensive experience and dedication to education make him an asset to any academic institution.

Ms. Dyonne Irani has joined ASI as a Science Teacher. Ms. Irani holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from China, with clinical training in the Emergency Department. Additionally, she possesses a Post-graduate Diploma in Autism Management from India. A keen interest in science, the natural world, environmental studies, and the complexities of the human mind and body complements her deep passion for biology. Outside academics, she enjoys painting, singing, cycling, swimming, traveling, and photography. Ms. Irani is excited to bring her diverse skills and enthusiasm to the ASI community.

Mohamed Haitam Himmi is a Moroccan musician and educator with over a decade of training at the national conservatory. He holds the Prize of Honor in both Arabic Oud and Music Theory, the highest awards after years of dedicated study in the conservatory. In addition to his expertise in the Arabic Oud, he has basic knowledge of various instruments, including percussion, piano, clarinet, and guitar.
Haitam has performed in numerous national cultural and artistic events, proudly representing Moroccan musical heritage while embracing classical and contemporary influences. At ASI, he will serve as a music teacher, with a focus on nurturing students’ creativity, technical skills, and appreciation for both traditional and modern repertoires. Beyond teaching, Haitam is passionate about reviving Arabic music, arranging and recording pieces to share with wider audiences. Outside of music, he enjoys sports, cinema and travel. He is excited to join ASI and looks forward to contributing to its vibrant and diverse learning community.

Ms. Kaoutar has a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies and a Master’s degree in
Communication, Media, and Public Relations from Al Akhawayn University. She is currently a Social Studies teacher at Al Akhawayn School of Ifrane, where she teaches Twentieth Century World History, Writing in Literature, and Media Studies. Her professional interests focus on media and gender studies. She pays special attention to how media influences public opinion and drives social change. She has strong research skills in media, culture, and gender studies, and she connects academic inquiry with real-world applications. With a solid background in communication, research, and cultural analysis, she aims to develop critical thinking and a deep understanding of complex societal issues in her students. Outside of academics, she volunteers and participates in community initiatives. She also explores creative arts, reflecting her belief in overall personal and professional growth. She is excited
about joining ASI, motivated by its liberal arts approach that helps students become well-rounded thinkers and active community members. She looks forward to contributing to a lively learning environment and supporting students in their intellectual and personal development.
